Joaquin Phoenix starts Rooney Mara marriage rumours

Joaquin Phoenix teased maybe being married to his longtime partner Rooney Mara.

The fans of the Joker star are supposing that the actor has secretly married Mara, after he subtly referred to her as his “wife”, during a conversation on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast’s Sunday episode.

He called the American actress his “wife” while talking about how he prepared his 2020 Oscars speech. Phoenix said he crafted the monologue while talking with, as he said, “my mom and my wife.”

Phoenix confirmed that it was indeed Mara who he referred to as “wife”, by mentioning her by name later in the chat.

“Rooney was like, ‘That’s what you should say!’” he shared.

However, throughout the actor’s entire conversation on the podcast with Fragoso, he didn’t give a clear statement on the status of his marriage.

Mara and Phoenix initially met on the set of Spike Jonze’s film Her in 2012. The pair didn’t get involved romantically until meeting each other again on the set of Mary Magdalene after a few years. They got engaged in 2019.

“She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet,” Phoenix told Vanity Fair about Mara in a 2019 interview.

“We were just friends, email friends. I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online.”

Hilary Swank: ‘I was 47 when I got pregnant, and I feel like I have a lot more patience’

Hilary Swank has recently explained why she wasn’t ready to have kids before she turned 47.

Speaking to PEOPLE, The Good Mother actress, who shares twins with husband Philip Schneider, said she wanted to give her kids “the best start by using clean, healthy products”.

Hilary revealed she “was shocked, mortified and actually enraged at what I was seeing and learning”.

While collaborating with HealthyBaby, the Freedom Writers actress continued, “And then I came across HealthyBaby and I wanted to learn more, so I kept diving deeper.”

Hilary pointed out, “I think they’re leading the charge to make this change, and everyone’s going to definitely be following suit because there’s no other choice.”

The actress told the outlet, “There should be no other choice for your baby.”

Hilary praised that HealthBaby “discloses everything, they’re completely transparent. We know everything that’s in their diapers, as it should be”.

The Million Dollar Baby actress shared she was “really focused on my other baby, which was my career”.

“I knew I wanted to be an actor since I was 8 years old, and I have loved my career,” she says. “I’m hopefully always going to be an actor,” she mentioned.

Hilary explained, “So, I was really career-focused and I wasn’t ready to have children in my 20s, or really even in my 30s, and then I hit my 40s and I didn’t have a partner. That doesn’t mean I had to have a partner.”

Reflecting on parenthood, the actress noted, “I was 47 when I got pregnant, and I feel like I have a lot more patience, and I’ve done a lot of my own personal work to be the type of mother I want to be, whereas it would’ve just been different in my twenties and thirties.”

“I don’t think I would’ve had the patience and the grace that I hopefully can bestow a little bit more [of] now, and a self-awareness in a different way that I don’t need to focus on myself anymore in the way that I did at that point,” she added.

Tom Ellis, Meaghan Oppenheimer working together on ‘Tell Me Lies’

“We really weirdly work very, very well together,” the show’s creator, Oppenheimer shared with People before the premiere of season 2.

“I think it’s funnier for other people because, spoiler, everyone is [undressed] on our show and he is as well,” the 38-year-old added.

“And I think some people at first were like, ‘Is this weird for you guys?’ And it’s so not weird for us. But I think that was funny for other people. Then you get over the first day and people are like, ‘Oh, this is just another day at work.’”

Ellis, who stars on the show, agreed. “It’s never been a problem for us really,” he said, referring to professional ties with his wife.

“I think we have a huge amount of respect for each other creatively. And I think she’s really, really talented at what she does, and she’s really, really good at talking to actors,” the 45-year-old added, calling the decision to take the gig a “no brainer.”

“I know a few people have gone, ‘What’s it like working with your wife? That must be strange.’ It’s like, well, actually, it’s strange that it isn’t strange, I think is probably the best answer.”
