Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos stands by Richard Gadd despite $170M lawsuit

Ted Sarandos remains adamant that ‘Baby Reindeer’ is a true story though some scenes are fictionalised

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos voiced his support for Richard Gadd, the writer and star of Netflix’s chart-topping reality-based drama Baby Reindeer.

During a recent interview with The Times of London newspaper, the CEO of the streaming giant defended the seven-episode shocker, saying that it is fictionalised as a television drama; however, this does not change the fact that the crime stalking plot is true.

“It was no one’s intent to use a label recklessly,” he said referring to the “true story” label attached to it. “That is Richard’s true story.”

“The fact that you’re watching on television says that parts of it were certainly fictionalised and dramatised” he explained, adding his disbelief, “I’m surprised that it’s a continued debate.”

For the unversed, Fiona Harvey, the woman who claimed to be the real-life stalker portrayed in Baby Reindeer as Martha, played by Jessica Gunning, filed a $170 million claim for damages in the Californian District Court against Netflix, suing for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and gross negligence.

She accused the series of wrongly portraying her as a criminal convicted for stalking who spent time behind the bars.

In addition, she also dismissed sexual assault claims from the show’s creator in the court documents, which also accuse that Netflix “told these lies, and never stopped, because it was a better story than the truth, and better stories made money.”

During the interview, Angelina responded to a question by Carine Roitfeld, “I just started my tattoo journey. Can you tell me about your most recent tattoo and the significance of it?”

To which, the Tomb Raider actress replied, “I got ‘Stay Gold’ with my daughter Viv during our time with The Outsiders. It means so much to us separately and together.”

Angelina revealed she debuted her bird tattoo back in June at the Tony Awards in NYC.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Salt actress discussed about her side hustle, Atelier Jolie.

Chester Bennington’s son Jamie has also voiced his disapproval of the replacement

Chester Bennington’s mother, Susan Eubanks, has expressed her deep disappointment over Linkin Park’s decision to move forward with a new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, without notifying her.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eubanks revealed that she found out about Armstrong, of Dead Sara, joining the band through an online search, despite promises from co-vocalist Mike Shinoda to keep Bennington’s family informed.

“I feel betrayed,” she stated. “They told me if they were ever going to do something, they would let me know. They didn’t let me know, and they probably knew that I [wasn’t] going to be very happy. I’m very upset about it.”

Eubanks also shared how difficult it is for her to see Armstrong perform songs originally sung by her late son, Chester, who passed away in 2017.

“Having her sing my son’s songs is hurtful,” she admitted.

She feels the band’s decision is erasing Chester’s legacy, saying, “It’s like making him go away, erasing the past.”

Previously, Chester’s son Jamie also slammed the band’s decision to bring Armstrong on board, considering her alleged past ties to the Church of Scientology and her initial support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

Prince Harry ‘aching’ for the Royal world left in UK

Prince Harry is reportedly feeling “lonely” in the US and is “aching for the world he left behind,” according to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield.

The Duke of Sussex, who resides in Montecito, California, with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, has been navigating life away from the royal spotlight since stepping back from his duties in 2020.

Recently celebrating his milestone 40th birthday privately with close family and friends, Harry’s transition to life in America seems to have its challenges.

Schofield suggests that the prince may be missing the family and friends he left behind in the UK.

During a recent appearance on GB News, royal commentator Schofield discussed Harry’s feelings of loneliness in California.

“100 percent,” she affirmed, emphasizing that his upbringing at an all-boys school fostered deep, fun friendships that are hard to replicate.

Reflecting on his past, Schofield noted, “He experienced something that most people don’t—going away to school and waking up with friends every day, followed by Christmases in a castle filled with cousins.”

She contrasted this with Harry’s current birthday celebration, where he would be surrounded by just four people: his wife, Meghan, their children, and her mother.

Concluding her analysis with a poignant eight-word statement, Schofield remarked, “I do believe he aches for the world he left behind.”

In a contrasting view, body language expert Darren Stanton shared his insights on Prince Harry’s demeanor, suggesting that the Duke is, in fact, enjoying his life in the US.

Analyzing Harry’s appearance at a charity tennis tournament just before his birthday, Stanton noted, “Harry showed real expressions of happiness and joy,” emphasizing that there were no signs of fake smiles.

Selena Gomez has recently lashed out at trolls who have derided her for sharing her personal struggles publicly.

Speaking at the Women in Film dinner alongside her little sister, Gracie, the Only Murders in the Building actress said, “I truly truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and want help.”

“That is not shameful,” remarked the 32-year-old.

Selena stated, “I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared I have bipolar.”

“That’s what my life is. That’s who I am. I only want to be an advocate. That’s why I share, that’s why I like to be honest, because everyone is going through something,” explained the singer as well as actress.

Selena, who released her documentary about mental health called Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me in 2022, added, “I don’t have it all put together, I’m me and that’s all I can be.”

Addressing her 11-year-old sister Gracie, the songstress mentioned, “Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are not a good person or that you aren’t kind because that is so cruel.”

“Screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book,” she said.

Earlier in a Vanity Fair interview, Selena opened up about her health problems and why she cannot get pregnant.

“I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” she admitted.

The singer-songwriter explained, “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” stated Selena.

Selena noted, “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that.”

“I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she added.
