King Charles no more insecure about William, Kate’s popularity, credit goes to Harry

King Charles continues his cancer treatment

Prince William and King Charles have grown closer since Prince Harry’s departure, according to insiders.

The 75-year-old monarch reportedly sees his son as a “useful ally” in managing the daily issues affecting the Royal Family since he ascended the throne. This includes handling Harry’s criticism of them in TV interviews and his memoir, Spare.

The Prince of Wales has also played a crucial role in standing in for the King as he continues his cancer treatment.

In the past, it was suggested that the extensive media attention on William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, occasionally caused frustration for Charles, with one person likening it to a “green-eyed monster.” However, insiders now say this is no longer the case.

A friend told The Times: “If there was ever a green-eyed monster or a sense of rivalry between the two, that is a chapter of the past. The King sees his son as a useful ally on family matters and increasingly in discharging the duties of nation and state.”

A source close to William meanwhile told the newspaper that the Prince of Wales “wants to support his father”, especially amid “everything the King is going through with his treatment”.

One recent example of them working together was seen at the D-Day commemorations in Normandy this week, where a determined King Charles delivered a speech just hours after recieving his latest round of cancer treatment.

He praised veterans and troops from Second World War as the generation who “did not flinch” and met veterans afterwards, before Prince William stepped in for his dad when he joined world leaders at the international ceremony on Omaha Beach.

Prince Harry did not attend the ceremony – and royal historian and expert Dr Tessa Dunlop has said she believes Harry will have been sad to see his brother at the events without him.

It has been a difficult few years for the 84-year-old, health-wise

The former Queen of Denmark has cancelled all upcoming engagements after injuring her neck and fracturing her hand.

Queen Margrethe II, who stepped down from the Danish throne in January, recently provided an important health update. Lene Balleby, Head of Communications for the Royal House of Denmark, issued a statement confirming the news.

She said: “Her Majesty Queen Margrethe has today been discharged from the Royal Hospital and is now back in her home at Fredensborg Castle.

“Queen Margrethe was hospitalised on Wednesday evening after a fall, which unfortunately caused damage around the neck vertebrae as well as a fracture of the left hand.

“As a result of that unfortunate fall, the left hand is now in plaster, and the Queen will have to wear it for the coming months and a stiff neck collar.

“Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and under the circumstances well, but will, however, be on sick leave for a longer period.

“It also means that the Queen’s attendance at a number of events has been cancelled in the coming time.”

A post on social media read: “Her Majesty Queen Margrethe was discharged from Rigshospitalet today and is now back at her home Fredensborg Palace.”

The Royal Family’s loyal fans were quick to send well wishes, with the comment section of the post flooded with concern and love.

It has been a difficult few years for the 84-year-old, health-wise.

February 2023 saw the royal undergo “extensive back surgery,” which led to her decision to abdicate the throne.

In her New Year’s address at the end of 2023, the royal said of her surgery and decision to step down: “[The surgery] went well, thanks to the skilled healthcare staff who took care of me.

“Of course, the operation also gave rise to thoughts about the future – whether the time had come to leave the responsibility to the next generation.”

While Queen Margarethe is set to take it easy for the next few weeks, she is still a constant present in the public eye, attending meetings and public engagements.

Prince Andrew’s scandal continues to haunt King Charles with new series

Netflix’s Scoop released in April, offers a fresh look at the controversial interview

Prince Andrew has been described as a “problem that refuses to go away” for King Charles, according to a royal commentator.

The Duke of York’s notorious Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis has now become the focus of a major TV drama.

Amazon Prime’s new three-part series, A Very Royal Scandal, chronicles the events leading up to and following Prince Andrew’s interview, which saw him questioned about his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The series, following Netflix’s Scoop released in April, offers a fresh look at the controversial interview and its aftermath.

A royal commentator has looked at how Prince Andrew is the “problem that refuses to go away” and will prompt further “embarrassment” for King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family.

As the show is released, royal author Jennie Bond suggested how the Firm will feel about the interview being back in the headlines.

“Andrew really is the problem that refuses to go away,” Bond claimed.

“I’m sure the King, and indeed Andrew, wish the interview had never taken place, even though Andrew was so pleased with it immediately after the filming.”

Looking at how this show is different from Netflix’s Scoop, Bond claimed the reason behind this is Emily Maitlis’s involvement.

“As Emily was so involved with this show – as opposed to the last one – it’s getting much more publicity than I imagined it would.

“It promises to fill in quite a few blanks around the making of the interview and Andrew’s demeanour before, during and afterwards.”

She continued to tell OK!: “I don’t imagine the King will watch it, but he will be made aware of its contents and any repercussions I’m sure.

“It’s bound to be a further embarrassment for all concerned.”

Speaking to LBC about the show, Maitlis said: “I feel uncomfortable at moments, and I feel concerned, and I think I’m also conscious… that it’s not just the ramifications [for] Andrew, it’s everyone around him.

“It’s the loyalties to others and the women in his immediate periphery, as well as, of course, to the Epstein victims that [are] the heart of this story.”

Neighbours annoyed by Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s presence: ‘moping around’

The couple stepped down as working royals and leaving the UK in 2020

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s neighbours are reportedly “fed up” and eagerly awaiting their departure.

Since moving into their £12 million Montecito mansion after stepping down as working royals and leaving the UK in 2020, the couple has faced some negative opinions from those living nearby.

Many neighbours have begun voicing their discontent, with one anonymous resident expressing strong dissatisfaction with the couple, who live there with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

Speaking to the Montecito Journal, the disgruntled homeowner said that they “cannot wait for her [Meghan] to go”.

Another neighbour, Frank McGinity, said that he was turned away from their gates after trying to perform a nice gesture.

The navy veteran, who lives next door to the couple, tried to share some films he made about the local history of the area, thinking they would have been interested in learning about their new home.

However, the 88-year-old was promptly snubbed by security guards. He said: “The gate guy turned me away and wouldn’t take the film, just saying ‘they’re not interested.’

“I was trying to be neighbourly,” he recounted in his memoir Get Off Your Street.

He also expressed his bewilderment over the pair’s decision to move to the Riven Rock estate, which normally skews towards an older demographic.

He told the local publication: “We don’t see them very much around here.”

A columnist for the paper said that he also did not see the couple very much out and about in the area.

Richard Mineard said: “It’s a very wealthy community, we have a lot of people giving a lot of money to our cultural organisations as well as charities, but we don’t see them.

“They live rather splendidly, it couldn’t be a nicer place.

“The community is waiting for them – they’re gnashing at the bit. The cachet of a Duke and Duchess!”

He said the limited few times he has seen the pair, Harry has been riding his bike, taking a walk, or heading out for lunch.

Meanwhile Meghan, has been spotted a few times moping around the area on a shopping or lunch trip.

Why King Charles skipped Beatrice’s daughter celebration but honored Harry’s birthday

Published

King Charles recently made headlines by celebrating his youngest son, Prince Harry, on his milestone 40th birthday with a heartfelt post on the Royal Family’s official social media channel.

However, the same fanfare did not extend to Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, who turned three on Wednesday.

While the Duke of Sussex received a warm birthday wish from the King, Sienna’s special day passed without any public acknowledgment from the Royal Family.

This decision may stem from Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s desire to keep their daughter out of the limelight and maintain a level of privacy for their young family.

As royal watchers speculate on the contrasting celebrations, it’s clear that the family is navigating the balance between public duties and personal choices in their approach to royal life.

Princess Beatrice is known for her low-key approach to social media, seldom sharing images of her daughter which reflects her desire for privacy.

In contrast, Harry received public birthday wishes from both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace on September 15, marking a significant moment for the Duke of Sussex.

This year’s celebration was particularly noteworthy, as it was the first time in two years that Buckingham Palace acknowledged Harry’s birthday in its posts.

Speculation among royal watchers suggests that this change may stem from a decision made by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who reportedly chose to publicly recognize the birthdays of non-working royals only when they end in a zero.
