Inside Selena Gomez’s most ‘human’ experience

Formerly the most followed person on Instagram, Selena Gomez claims that giving up the platform was “the most rewarding gift” because it allowed her to “feel more human.”

One of the best things The Only Murders in the Building star could have done for her mental health, according to her, was to break away from social media.

She said that her account has been managed by a social media team for the past four years and that the extended hiatus has significantly improved her general happiness.

The Who Says singer recently disclosed the following when attending the 2024 TIME 100 Summit: “I took four years off of Instagram and I let my team post for me,” and added: “I felt like it was the most rewarding gift I gave myself. I was more present. I was happier.”

The singer, 31, claims that she would much rather pick up the phone and have a genuine discussion to catch up with friends than spend endless hours browsing through and chatting on social media.

And while not everyone has the resources to hire someone to manage their accounts, Selena emphasised how “important it is to take breaks.”

The former Spring Breakers star claimed that giving up social media allowed her to devote more time and energy to other areas of her life and to live a more present-day life.

The Rare beauty mogul explained: “You get the chance to actually engage with the world a little bit better,” she said, adding, “You get the chance to spend your energy in other places.”

The Calm Down vocalist surpassed well-known model and reality star Kylie Jenner to become the most followed woman on the social media network just a year ago, with an astounding 429 million followers.

And while some were taken aback by this achievement, others reasoned that it made perfect sense, given Selena’s pleasant, grounded demeanour and consistent, trouble-free public appearance. She trails Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the aggregate number of Instagram followers.

Tom Selleck on ‘frustrated’ on CBS’ cancellation of ‘Blue Bloods’

Tom Selleck is certainly not happy with CBS’ decision to end his longtime TV cop drama, Blue Bloods.

After the network announced that the hit series will see it’s end this fall last year, the 79-year-old opened up on why he is entirely onboard with the decision.

“I’m kind of frustrated,” the series’ star got candid in an interview with TV Insider, when asked how does he “feel now that Blue Bloods is over.”

“During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful,” Selleck, who according to the outlet, has “been vocal about not wanting the show to end after the 14th season,” said.

“In a Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024 (in total viewers, we were number 9 out of 100), if you discount the three football shows, we’re #6 !” he exclaimed.

“I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn!’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe.”

Selleck also shared why he thinks that the show was never given the value it deserved.

“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. So how do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out,” he said.

He further continued, “I remember after the weekend [of the final episode’s shoot], I said, “I’ve got to get to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.’” Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while.”

Tom Brady’s pal Julian Edelman on player’s ‘texting’ habit

Tom Brady’s former New England Patriots wide receiver, Julian Edelman has a complaint about the ex NFL player’s “texting” habits.

“I think he’s a little too old for texting,” Edelman vented to Us Weekly.

“You know when you teach your grandparents how to text and stuff? Maybe that’s what it is. He reads it and he doesn’t know how to text back. I mean, the guy is 50. We’re pushing 50.”

Edelman suggested that the 47-year-old, former quarterback leave his texts unanswered, maybe intentionally.

“I know that he sees them,” Edelman claimed.

Even with the playful teasing, Edelman shared his appreciation for Tom Brady and their former Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski—both of whom joined him in Tostitos’ latest ad campaign. He also reflected on the new chapter that each of them is embarking on in their lives.

“It is very special,” Edelman said.

“Now that they’re both retired, it feels very similar to when we were back playing, you know? I see Tom and how he’s preparing for his work now. It makes me want to be better at my work. I see how Rob prepares when we’re doing our podcast. It makes me want to do my job better.”

David Henrie recalls being ‘afraid’ to direct Mel Gibson

David Henrie revealed why he “was very much afraid” of Mel Gibson.

“I was afraid to work with Mel. How do you direct an Oscar-winning director?” Henrie shared with Us Weekly of his directorial debut, Monster Summer, starring Gibson.

“I have heard horror stories about friends of mine working with big celebrities — not Mel, other big celebrities — and having really tough times not being able to direct that very large, well-known celebrity because they’ve done it, they know what they’re doing and they’re not going to take directions from a kid.”

He continued, “So I was very much afraid that that [working with Mel] was going to be that.”

However, the concerns went away pretty soon, as the 68-year-old actor proved to be the “exact opposite”. Henrie gushed that directing the Braveheart actor was “so freaking cool”, as he acted as a support, being the only adult on the cast amongst teens.

Set to release in theaters on Friday, October 4, Monster Summer tells the story of Noah (Mason Thames) and his friends, whose fun-filled summer on Martha’s Vineyard takes a turn when they encounter a mysterious force.

Determined to protect their island, the group teams up with Gene (Gibson), a reclusive former police detective, for a thrilling adventure to uncover the truth and save their island.

“The kids kind of woke up a young side of him,” Henrie said of Gibson, who hasn’t starred a children’s movie since 1995’s Pocahontas.

“This is a newer thing for him, [and] he was having fun. He’s like, ‘This is different. I can have fun. I can be a kid again.’ And you sense that from him.”

Eva Longoria remembers ‘Desperate Housewives’ time on 20th anniversary

Eva Longoria reminisced her time on Desperate Housewives on the show’s 20th anniversary with a throwback

“20 years of Desperate Housewives!! I get so emotional thinking about how this show changed everything for me. So many memories, so many episodes (we used to film 24 episodes a season back then!), and so many iconic outfits,” the actress wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, which had a carousel of pictures from behind-the-scenes, from all the years of the show’s filming.

“Everything I know about filmmaking and TV I learned on that show. I’m so grateful for my forever mentor, Marc Cherry, and for the women who took me under their wing and showed me the way #DesperateHousewives.”

Longoria portrayed the character of Gabrielle Solis, a former model who transitions into the life of a housewife. Discontent with her marriage, her character sparks controversy when she starts an affair with her young gardener, portrayed by Jesse Metcalfe.

Longoria also answered a question to ET Canada, regarding her return to the show, if a reboot happened.

“Of course! Who wouldn’t do it?” she said. ”I loved Gabby Solis. I miss Gabby Solis,” adding, “I would always love to be in Gabby’s shoes again.”
