Danielle Radcliffe pens heartfelt note for Harry Potter co-star Dame Maggie Smith

Danielle Radcliffe is completely ‘heart-broken’ and at a loss of words following the death of his beloved Harry Potter co-star Dame Maggie Smith.

Radcliffe, who played the lead character to the eight films based on the books by JK Rowling from 2001 to 2011, paid tribute to his late co-star in a heartbreaking statement.

Reflecting on his experience working with Smith in the highly-acclaimed franchise, he penned, “The first time I met Maggie Smith I was 9 years old and we were reading through scenes for David Copperfield, which was my first job.

“I knew virtually nothing about her other than that my parents were awestruck at the fact that I would be working with her.

The actor reflected on a cherished memory of her from years ago as he went on to add, “The other thing I knew about her was that she was a Dame, so the first thing I asked her when we met was ‘would you like me to call you Dame?’ at which she laughed and said something to the effect of ‘don’t be ridiculous!’

“I remember feeling nervous to meet her and then her putting me immediately at ease. She was incredibly kind to me on that shoot, and then I was lucky enough to go on working with her for another 10 years on the Harry Potter films.”

In the end, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for her exceptional contribution to the franchise.

For the unversed, Radcliffe starred in the Harry Potter franchise for a magical run of 10 years.

Earlier this year, King Charles received a cancer diagnosis

Princess Kate and Prince William have expressed to King Charles how crucial they believe it is to spend time with him as he continues his battle with cancer, according to a royal commentator.

Earlier this year, King Charles received a cancer diagnosis, which he shares with the Princess of Wales. Royal commentator Jennie Bond commended Kate and William for their recent visit to King Charles in Scotland., reported GB News.

She noted that Charles and Kate will share a unique connection, having both undergone cancer treatment in 2024.

She said regarding the couple’s trip to Balmoral this month: “Their visit underlines how important they feel it is to spend time with Charles.

“It’s been a few weeks since they’ve been together and I’m sure William in particular feels he wants to stay in close touch with his papa particularly as the King continues his cancer treatment.”

Bond continued: “Catherine and Charles share a truly special bond, undoubtedly strengthened by their shared experience with cancer.

“So, it’s not so much Scotland’s enchanting allure that drew them this time, but rather her and William’s desire to spend quality time with the King.”

A potential reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles next week remains uncertain. In February, the father and son had a 45-minute meeting at Clarence House after Harry returned to the UK upon learning of the King’s cancer diagnosis.

However, despite making two subsequent trips to the UK, Harry has not met with King Charles during either visit.

King Charles continues his cancer treatment

The King is preparing for his upcoming autumn tour to Australia and Samoa by embracing a renewed health regimen, focusing on nature and spending quality time with loved ones.

A long-time proponent of alternative therapies, Charles has complemented his cancer chemotherapy treatment with a deep connection to the outdoors.

Insiders close to the monarch reveal that Charles believes his commitment to “getting plenty of fresh air and encouraging family visits” has played a significant role in his ongoing recovery, reported Mirror.

Known for his workaholic tendencies, the King has had to be “encouraged to pace himself,” but he has since found peace in prioritizing his health to regain his strength.

On October 18, the King and Queen will embark on a nine-day tour of Australia and Samoa, which includes a four-day stay in Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

In preparation for this first major international tour since his diagnosis, Charles has spent recent weeks at his Birkhall residence on the Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire.

A source said: “The King, by his very nature, is a workaholic. If he’s not on public engagements, he is working on the next set while staying across his government papers or responding to correspondence.

“He hasn’t really slowed down despite the protests from those around him, but it has been important to him to remain to be seen. Even during his treatment he was keen to make sure things were in place for him to make a full time return.

“Now things are moving in a very positive direction which has enabled him to make long term plans.”

Even when staying in Scotland for the traditional royal summer break, the King has undertaken engagements on the way down to London to “keep the train on the tracks”, as one royal source divulged.

Another source said: “These past few months have given cause for His Majesty to reflect on many things. Naturally, some of this has been on his own health and the way in which he wants to use his misfortune to create something positive, but equally he has considered what he wants to do when his treatment ends and he is back to full health.”

In February, 75-year-old Charles was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate after spending three nights in the hospital.

Following a medical procedure, the King courageously chose to go public with his diagnosis, hoping to encourage other men to seek medical attention if faced with a similar condition.
