‘Angered’ Scarlet Johansson accuses OpenAI of cloning voice without consent

Scarlet Johansson details OpenAI voice cloning case

Scarlet Johansson opened up to be “shocked, angered and in disbelief”, accusing the company OpenAI for taking her voice without her consent for a new ChatGPT project.

The Academy Award-nominated actress, 39, released a detailed statement explaining the issue through her publicist Marcel Pariseau to NPR, Monday.

Johansson claimed that after she didn’t allow the company to use her voice, they went ahead and cloned one indifferentiable from her own.

“Last September, I received an offer from Sam Altman, who wanted to hire me to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system,” the New York City native said.

“He told me that he felt that by my voicing the system, I could bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and help consumers to feel comfortable with the seismic shift concerning humans and Al.”

She added, “He said he felt that my voice would be comforting to people. After much consideration and for personal reasons, declined the offer.”

Johansson then revealed that less than a year later, the company apparently went ahead with their plans about her voice.

“Nine months later, my friends, family and the general public all noted how much the newest system named ‘Sky’ sounded like me,” Johansson said.

“When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference.”

She further explained, “Mr. Altman even insinuated that the similarity was intentional, tweeting a single word ‘her’ – a reference to the film in which I voiced a chat system, Samantha, who forms an intimate relationship with a human.”

Johansson claimed that Altman called her agent “two days before the ChatGPT 4.0 demo was released’ asking her to reconsider their offer to work for them.”

“Before we could connect, the system was out there,” Johansson said.

“As a result of their actions, I was forced to hire legal counsel, who wrote two letters to Mr. Altman and OpenAl, setting out what they had done and asking them to detail the exact process by which they created the ‘Sky’ voice.”

Johansson claimed that OpenAl “reluctantly agreed to take down the ‘Sky’ voice after she contacted them.”

“Today I am turning 50 years old,” The Tonight Show host wrote while talking to X (formerly known as Twitter), sharing a throwback picture of himself from his childhood, unwrapping presents and looking cute in a birthday cone hat.

“I just want to say thank you for giving me this great life,” he shared.

“I’m very lucky. I appreciate the applause, laughter, and support, whether it be at one of my shows, walking down the street, at a basketball game in France, or even stranded and lost in a Bavarian field.”

Blake Shelton shares his thoughts on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship

Blake Shelton has recently gushed over Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s relationship.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show on September 19, Blake responded to a question about believing in Taylor and Travis while picking up for ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday, September 21.

“I do, man,” confessed the country musician.

Blake “appreciates the fact that they’re both putting it out there in everybody’s face” and “not sneaking around or trying to hide their romance by keeping it on the down low”.

“I think when you’re willing to just come out and [say] that you’re together and you’re owning [the relationship, it shows their love is real],” said the singer.

Blake mentioned he and Gwen also did the same thing during the early days of his and wife’s relationship.

“Look I’m dating Gwen Stefani and I want the world to know that, you know what I mean,” explained the singer,

Blake noted, “The fact that they’re [doing that] shows they’re probably super into each other and proud of each other and their accomplishments.”

The God’s Country crooner believed that Travis is a “perfect match” for Taylor.

“I’ve been around Travis just once or twice and I don’t think he really has it in him to just … he’s a standout no matter where he is or what he’s doing,” declared the singer.

Blake remarked, “Travis has just got this big personality, he’s a funny guy, he walks into the room and he has a presence there.”

“So, there’s never going to be a moment when he’s in the shadows anyway just because of his charisma and his personality. He owns the moment, whatever that is. I love his personality,” added the musician.

Sophia Bush on delayed  ‘One Tree Hill’ reboot

Sophia Bush sighs as the ‘One Tree Hill’ highly-anticipated reboot gets into production after being delayed for about “half a decade”.

“What I can say is that after, God, close to half a decade of these conversations, we’ve been able to all sort of divide and conquer in the coolest way,” she revealed on the Sept. 19 episode of her podcast Drama Queens, while answering fans’ questions about the reboot.

Bush and Hilarie Burton teased the reboot on Instagram in August.

“And those of us with TV producing experience are having some really exciting conversations,” Bush added.

“It’s been in development for some time. I think that’s all I can say,” the actress, who said earlier that she “can’t tell anyone anything” at the moment, continued.

“But,” the 42-year-old added, “yeah, it’s been this experience and really even longer than we’ve had this wonderful show [podcasts].”

“But, the experiences we’ve had with the fans who’ve continually asked the coolest questions and made us think about, you know, where our whole ragtag gang of humans would be at this point [is what] has prompted the ideas.”

“So I think that’s all I can say on this podcast, but I do hope we have exciting updates, and I hope we get great news, and we have a big announcement,” she further shared.

Young Sheldon star Montana Jordan is a father of four-month-old daughter

Montana Jordan has fully embraced fatherhood, declaring it the greatest joy ever known.

In a conversation with People at the CBS Hosts Sit-Down Comedy Event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 18, the Young Sheldon star discussed about being a father and how much he is enjoying his little bundle of joy.

The 21-year-old actor welcomed his first baby, daughter Emma Rae Jordan, with his girlfriend Jenna Weeks in May.

“It’s been great for me, man. There’s nothing better,” he reflected on his feelings after his daughter’s birth. Jordan, who played George Cooper in the widely acclaimed CBS sitcom, shares he has always been around kids.

He got two little nieces, however, he could “give my nieces back.” But as he became a father, “I can’t give mine back. I’m stuck with her,” he quipped.

“I’m just kidding. No, but she’s great, man. There’s nothing better than freaking being a dad. There’s nothing better, for sure,” the young actor assured.

Since welcoming his daughter on May 21, Jordan has been documenting her first few months on his social media, including when she joined him on his upcoming Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
