Alleged robber killed in Lahore police encounter

Lahore: An alleged robber was killed in a crossfire with the Organised Crime Unit Civil Lines in Gujjarpura area of the provincial capital, police said on Monday.

Police said the suspect identified as Malik Imran Sabir was being transported to a location in Gujjarpura to make further arrests where his accomplices opened fire on police. Police claimed that the suspect was killed by the firing of his accomplices.

The suspected succumbed to his wounds while on the way to a hospital. The body was shifted for autopsy and legal formalities. The police said Malik Imran had killed four people in Kahna, Ghaziabad, Mughalpura and Harbanspura.

A case was registered against the runaway suspects.

More than 20 labourers abducted in Balochistan’s Musakhel

Quetta: At least 20 labourers were abducted by armed men in Musakhail on Sunday amid the growing terrorism wave in Balochistan.

According to police, the gunmen opened fire on the camp of the labourers working for a gas company, set ablaze eight bulldozers and took away over 20 labourers with them.

The incident comes hours after seven labourers were brutally killed by unidentified gunmen in a house in Panjgur district of the Balochistan.

Police detailed that the labourers were residing in a house in the district’s Khuda-e-Abadan area, where the incident occurred and left seven people dead and one wounded.

Both the Musakhel and Panjgur incidents reflect the security challenges faced by the province which has witnessed the brunt of terrorist attacks, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, amid the increase in terrorist incidents faced by the country in recent months.

This is pertinent to mention here that last month, 23 passengers were killed after being offloaded from buses and trucks in the Rarasham area of Muskhel district.

Six selling drugs to students, arrested

Islamabad: Six suspects were arrested for selling drugs to students in educational institutions.

According to the spokesperson of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), an effective crackdown is ongoing against elements selling drugs to students in educational institutions across the country and six suspects have been arrested from around educational institutions in five different operations in 24 hours.

About 15kg of drugs worth more than Rs1.2 million have been recovered during various operations.

150 grams of hashish and 10 ecstasy tablets were recovered from the accused near Farash Town Islamabad. Similarly, 200 grams of hashish and 100 grams of ice were recovered from the accused near the university on Defense Road in Lahore.

2.4kg of hashish, 100 grams of ice and 50 ecstasy pills were recovered from the accused near the college on Canal Road Lahore.

96 bottles of liquor and 2kg of hashish were recovered from two suspects in Latifabad, Hyderabad. Similarly, 10kg of hashish was recovered from the accused in a raid near the university in Tondojam, Hyderabad.

The arrested accused have also confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.

Three cops injured in blast near police mobile in Bajaur

Bajaur: A bomb exploded near a police vehicle in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as a result of which three police officers were injured.

According to the details, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Aziz said that Station House Officer (SHO) Shahpur Khan and other officials were safe in the blast.

He stated that SHO Shahpur Khan was on a routine patrol when the police vehicle collided with a roadside bomb.

The DSP added that the injured were shifted to Headquarters Hospital Khar, adding that a search operation has been started in the area.

It is pertinent to note that two days ago, a 10-year-old child was killed as a result of an explosives explosion in a garbage dump near Khazana Sugar Mill area of ​​Peshawar when the child picked explosives from the garbage.

Earlier on September 22, a police van guarding a convoy of foreign travelers was targeted in Swat, resulting in at least one officer being martyred and four others injured.

One dead, 18 injured in blast at Swabi police station

Swabi: At least one person was killed and 18 sustained injuries in an explosion inside a police station in Khyber Pakhtunkwa’s Swabi district on Thursday.

According to the police, the explosion apparently occurred due to a short circuit, inside a depot on the first floor of the police station.

Rescue and firefighting teams reached the scene immediately and started shifting the wounded cops to the Bacha Khan Medical where emergency has been imposed.

The power blast affected the building which caught fire, however, it was doused following an immediate response from firefighting teams.

According to rescue officials, 15 wounded policemen have been shifted to the hospital.

KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incident and ordered the inspector general and chief secretary to immediately reach the Swabi police station.

He also ordered them to present a report after ascertaining the genre of the explosion. He also asked authorities to ensure timely medical assistance to the injured.
