Who will shine in this season’s acting awards?

Next year’s Oscars are shaping up to be a thrilling competition among some of music’s biggest stars, with Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande all vying for a Best Supporting Actress nomination.

The 97th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 2, 2025, have sparked excitement as predictions suggest these pop divas could be in the running for the coveted award.

According to Variety’s Awards Circuit Predictions, all three artists are positioned to campaign for their nominations ahead of the award season.

Selena Gomez is already making waves for her performance as wife and mother Jessi Del Monte in Netflix’s musical drama, Emilia Pérez

Selena stars alongside a talented cast in the upcoming Netflix film, featuring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Édgar Ramírez, and Adriana Paz.

The film tells the story of an underrated lawyer, played by Saldaña, who navigates a complex world where a large law firm is more focused on freeing criminals than delivering justice.

In a statement about the film, Karla Sofía Gascón described it as a unique blend of genres, saying, “You have a musical that is not a musical, an action movie that’s not an action movie, a drama that’s not a drama, a comedy that’s not a comedy.

It is such a great gift, and I’m so proud to be part of it.”

Emilia Pérez is set to premiere on Netflix on November 13 in the US, Canada, and the UK, promising viewers an exciting and innovative cinematic experience!

Maren Morris cuts Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reference from ‘Rich’

Maren Morris left out the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reference and changed the lyrics to her song Rich after his recent arrest.

The 34-year-old singer debuted her new rendition of the song while performing at the Bourbon & Beyond music festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on Thursday, September 19.

Instead of the lyrics, “Boy, I’d be rich, head to toe Prada / Benz in the driveway, yacht in the water / Vegas at the Mandarin, high roller gambling / Me and Diddy drippin’ diamonds like Marilyn,” Morris cut the 54-year-old music giant’s name on Thursday.

The songstress even reshared footage from the performance, taking to her Instagram stories on Saturday, September 21, and wrote “F— Diddy,” over it.

Morris’ added four extra k’s to the first word in the caption.

Morris tweaked the Diddy name-drop on her 2018 song for the first time. The song was part of her debut album, HERO.

In November 2023, Diddy was initially charged with misconduct and sexual assault after an extensive career in music. The rapper vigorously and openly refuted each and every allegation, but he has since been facing accusations back to back.

Netflix not happy with Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart has Netflix upset after slamming the streaming giant over the documentary on her life, named after her, despite the private plan trip to its premiere on their expense.

“As you can imagine, Netflix is pissed,” a source shared with Page Six, after the premiere of the film at the Telluride Film Festival, to and from where the 83-year-old domestic diva flew Netflix’s private jet.

“Martha was seen arriving to – and departing – the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado via private jet courtesy of Netflix.”

After the premiere, Martha slammed the documentary as “lazy” and called it” not the story that makes me, me.”

Her objection is that the documentary, in her view, focusses excessively on her 2004 insider trading prosecution and subsequent jail.

During an appearance at the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum, Stewart reportedly said that R.J. Cutler, the director of the film, “refused to change anything.”

“I try not to talk publicly about the things I don’t like, [as] it’s not good business,” she told the Daily Beast’s Chief Creative and Content Officer Joanna Coles.

But she added that she “can talk a little bit badly about [the documentary],” adding, “It’s more about my stupid trial, which was so unfair.”

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle dealt major blow by Hollywood

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have received another blow in the US as the Hollywood has reportedly turned its back on the couple.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not being taken “seriously” by the Hollywood, according to a new report.

Meghan and Harry were notably absent from last week’s WME’s star-studded Emmy bash in Beverly Hills, according to the Mail. The Sussexes’ absence strengthened the claims about the industry’s “genuine dislike and distrust” towards them.

However, it is not known whether the couple were not invited or declined to attend.

WME (William Morris Endeavor) is one of Hollywood’s leading talent agencies and includes Meghan as one of its clients.

In April last year, it was announced that Meghan had signed a representative deal with the talent agency, which stated that it would focus on “building out her business ventures across multiple facets of the agency and its broader ecosystem, including film and television production, brand partnerships, and more.”

Hollywood insiders have suggested that the business is losing interest in the Montecito couple.

One senior figure said that Harry and Meghan “seem to be reaping the kind of ‘schadenfreude with extra venom’ at which the entertainment business excels”.

“It was only a matter of time before the industry press started taking shots. It’s hard to find anyone with a good word to say for their film and television credibility,” the source added.

Some of the industry’s giants believe that the mainstream Hollywood never took them seriously.
