Kathie Lee Gifford remembers Charlie’s Angels insult

Kathie Lee Gifford remembered how she was insulted while auditioning for Charlie’s Angels, and how she laughed it off.

Gifford recalled the incident when she was bluntly slammed for not being “pretty” enough to star in the ABC’s television series while talking to People about her new book, I Want to Matter: Your Life Is Too Short and Too Precious to Waste.

In the book, the former Today TV host uses the incident as an example to write about the power of forgiveness and kindness, about how she was instantly given a no as she arrived at the casting office for an interview, and how she let it go.

“She goes, ‘Let me tell you right now, you’re not right for Charlie’s Angels,’” Gifford said.

When she asked why, the agent said straight-forwardly, “Because we’re looking for a pretty girl. You know, like Jaclyn Smith: pretty, gorgeous, gorgeous.”

At first, the comments left Gifford stunned, but then she braced herself with a comeback.

“I said, ‘When you’re casting a cartoon,’ and I threw up my leg. ‘When you’re casting a cartoon, let me know.’ I left, thanking God that I could laugh about it.”

“I started to see, first of all, what a b*tch she was. What an unnecessary bitch she was,” she reflected further about the incident.

“She didn’t say ‘Sorry, honey, have a nice life. You’re not what we’re looking for.’ She had to be cruel. She had to be the exact opposite of what my dad taught me to be. The fact that I remember her name to this day is because she was so cruel.”

Hugh Grant jokes about Donald Trump’s acting career

Hugh Grant recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show to promote his upcoming movie, Heretic

When Donald Trump’s name came up, Grant joked, “He always wanted to be in my stuff.”

Grant recalled working with Trump on the 2002 romantic comedy Two Weeks Notice, alongside Sandra Bullock. “He played a bit part as himself,” Grant said.

However, Grant admitted he doesn’t remember Trump well.

“The night he came, I had a bet with Sandy that I could make the chairman of Warner Bros. cry by 9 p.m.,” Grant shared.

“And I was completely focused on that. It’s quite a big bet. She didn’t believe I could do it, but I did it.” The chairman was “in floods of tears” by 8:30 p.m.

Grant concluded, “So I’m afraid Donald Trump didn’t really register.”

When asked if Trump was nice to him, Grant replied, “All I remember is that a day or two afterward I got a call to say, ‘You’ve been made a member of Trump National New York,’ ” which Grant brushed off.

“I don’t remember him greatly as a person.”

Trump’s acting career includes cameos in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Little Rascals, Sex and the City, Zoolander, and The Nanny

Director Chris Columbus shared that Trump required a cameo in Home Alone 2 to film at the Plaza Hotel.

“Trump said okay,” Columbus recalled. “We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie.’ ” Columbus added, “When we screened it for the first time, people cheered when Trump showed up on screen. So I said to my editor, ‘Leave him in the movie. It’s a moment for the audience.'”

Palace issued new security warning for King Charles, Prince William

King Charles and his heir, Prince William, had to ditch some of their most expensive vehicles for a potential threat over their safety.

The monarch and the Prince of Wales have long supported causes meant for bettering the environment. They have even switched to electric cars while they are in the expansive Palace, to move around from once place to another.

However, a life-threatening risk emerged after it was discovered that the technology used in the cars in not completely safe for the royals.

“Electric cars are more vulnerable because they have more technology,” Robert Pritchard, who has briefed ministers and the late Queen Elizabeth on cyber issues, told The Sun.

“If the car is manufactured by a Chinese firm, then the Chinese government can probably get access to location data.”

Charles has been spotted driving the Eletre SUVs made by Norfolk-based Lotus, of which 51 per cent is Chinese-owned. Kate and William also have been loaned one similar car.

The King was even considering to drop his electric Audi after using the new car at Balmoral this summer. However, the tech is reportedly “more vulnerable to hackers” despite it self-drive function is disabled in the UK.

The hackers could not only track the vehicle’s location but can also take control of the wheel remotely.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman did not want to comment on the matter.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford announced their separation in May after 14 years of marriage

Eamonn Holmes’ animosity towards Phillip Schofield has intensified to the point where he expresses no regrets about his outbursts, which contributed to problems in his marriage to Ruth Langsford.

A source close to Eamonn, 64, revealed that he remains steadfast in his outspoken criticisms of Phillip, which reportedly left Ruth feeling dismayed towards the end of their relationship.

Ruth continues to be a regular fixture on the popular ITV show Loose Women, and sources indicate that she felt uncomfortable with her husband publicly voicing his grievances about the channel and expressing feelings of betrayal.

The couple announced their separation in May after 14 years of marriage, citing that work commitments had “taken their marriage in different directions.” Since then, Eamonn has been seen on holiday with his girlfriend, Katie Alexander.

The presenter has not held back in expressing his disdain for Phillip, leading to a feud that has been labeled one of the most significant in show business.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Eamonn’s dislike for Phillip existed for a long time, but it became very public at the end of his marriage to Ruth. And as his hatred for him and ITV grew, the cracks in their relationship grew deeper.

‘Ruth became a bit dismayed at Eamonn for making repeated digs at ITV after they were axed from This Morning.

‘Ruth wasn’t over the moon about it . But given she was still a cemented member of the Loose Women family, it made things somewhat awkward for her to have Eamonn criticising ITV.

‘But Eamonn loathes Phillip and has no regrets about what he said and certainly doesn’t think he threw him under the bus.

‘He doesn’t regret any of his behaviour; he believes he’s addicted to fame, and he can’t believe he’s attempted to relaunch himself with his documentary this week.

‘Eamonn is trying to move on with his life, and has no plans to ever make it up with Philip.’

But a source close to the presenter said it would be wrong to suggest his comments about Philip or ITV had anything to do with his marriage breaking down.

The duchess’s visit to Picton Barracks is part of her increasingly busy schedule of royal engagements

The Duchess of Edinburgh demonstrated her calm demeanor during a visit to Picton Barracks in Wiltshire this morning.

In her capacity as Royal Colonel, Sophie, 59, oversaw a homecoming parade for the 5th Battalion of The Rifles, which recently returned from a six-month deployment in Estonia.

A highlight of her visit occurred when she boldly removed a spider from an officer’s shirt, sharing a lighthearted moment and exchanging smiles with the soldier. This act illustrated the duchess’s approachable nature and her ability to connect with military personnel, reported GB News.

Throughout her visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh warmly interacted with the families of the soldiers. In a particularly touching gesture, she presented mini-medals to the children present at the homecoming parade.

Sophie also inspected the Guard of Honour and delivered a speech to the assembled troops and their loved ones. Her interactions showcased her dedication to her role as Royal Colonel and her capability to engage with both military personnel and their families.

The duchess’s visit to Picton Barracks is part of her increasingly busy schedule of royal engagements as she steps in to cover for other senior royals facing health challenges.

In recent months, Sophie’s royal duties have significantly increased, with the number of her engagements more than doubling this September compared to the same period last year—37 completed so far versus 18 in 2023.

Next week, the duchess is set to appear on the CBeebies Bedtime Story segment, where she will read Specs for Rex by Yasmeen Ismail in celebration of World Sight Day.
