Prince Harry officially establishes US residency

Published

on

Prince Harry has officially declared his residency in the United States, marking a significant step in his and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s, transition away from royal life.

Their relocation to a villa in Southern California four years ago signaled the couple’s intent to establish roots in America.

This week, a travel company associated with Prince Harry filed paperwork with British authorities, formally confirming his status as a US resident.

This decision to step back from their royal duties and pursue opportunities in America has been met with both fascination and criticism.

In recent months, he has openly discussed issues within the monarchy, including allegations of unconscious racism, both in a Netflix series and in his upcoming autobiography, Spare.

Harry’s formal confirmation of his US residency comes through paperwork filed by Travalyst Ltd, a company primarily owned by the prince and established in 2020 with a mission to promote sustainable tourism globally.

The documentation, received by Companies House on Monday, signifies another step in Harry’s distancing from his former role as a counsellor of state to the king.

Despite retaining the title of counsellor of state, a position allowing royal family members to deputize for the monarch in certain circumstances, Harry’s practical involvement in such duties has diminished.

Parliament was informed in 2022 that only working members of the royal family would be called upon to fulfill these responsibilities.

The Heritage Foundation, a prominent conservative think tank, has raised concerns regarding the Department of Homeland Security’s approval of Prince Harry’s US visa application.

This decision comes in light of revelations about the prince’s past drug use.

In response, the foundation has taken legal action, petitioning a judge to compel the department to disclose Harry’s immigration file.

Their argument contends that either he provided false information on his visa application or received preferential treatment, as a history of drug use typically disqualifies an applicant from obtaining a visa.

Heath Ledger always knew ‘The Dark Knight’ would be a hit: ‘He was so smug’

‘The Dark Knight’ received critical acclaim, and Ledger even won an Oscar for his role as The Joker

Heath Ledger may have not been alive to witness it, but he always knew The Dark Knight (2008) would be a massive hit.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Andrew Garfield — who worked with Ledger on the 2009 film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus — recalled Ledger’s confidence after filming his iconic role as the Joker.

“He had just finished The Dark Knight and he was so smug about it,” Garfield, 41, shared, laughing.

The Amazing Spider-Man star further recalled that when he asked how the film turned out, Ledger replied, “Yeah, it’s really good,” with a calm assurance that suggested he already knew the Christopher Nolan film was destined for greatness.

Garfield, still early in his own career at the time, was starstruck by Ledger, who had already made a name for himself in movies like A Knight’s Tale, Brokeback Mountain, and 10 Things I Hate About You.

The actor — who is currently gearing up for the October 11th release of his new film with Florence Pugh called We Live in Time — also shared a humorous anecdote about Ledger’s reaction to seeing himself on the cover of Empire magazine. Ledger critiqued the photo, calling it a “f***ing s*** photo,” despite Garfield insisting it looked incredible.

Tragically, Ledger passed away in January 2008 before the film’s release, but when The Dark Knight hit theatres in July, his instincts were proven right. The film shattered box-office records and earned Ledger a posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, cementing his unforgettable legacy.

Martha Stewart cheated on ex-husband Andy Stewart

Martha Stewart admitted to cheating on ex-Husband Andy Stewart, and she doesn’t seem to have any problem with that.

In the trailer for her upcoming Netflix documentary Martha, set to premiere on October 30, lifestyle expert Martha Stewart shared a personal revelation about her past.

Stewart admitted to having been unfaithful to her ex-husband, Andy Stewart, during the early stages of their relationship.

The documentary delves into various aspects of her life, offering viewers a deeper look at the experiences that shaped her.

“Young women, listen to my advice,” Martha said in the trailer. “If you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s–t.”

Off-camera, whose voice can be heard in the background, asked the 83-year-old what she thinks of an affair from her end, to which Martha replied, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Martha and Andy got married in 1961 and parted ways later in 1987 and settled their divorce in 1990. The couple are parents to daughter Alexis Stewart, 59.

Somewhere else in the interview, Martha was asked about her preference between “a marriage? Or a career?”, to which she said she wasn’t sure.

Ben Affleck stepped out for the first time after ex-wife Jennifer Lopez spoke on their divorce.

Ben Affleck displayed no emotion when he stepped out in LA this week after ex Jennifer Lopez commented on their divorce.

The 52-year-old actor refused to react to Jennifer classifying their decision to separate as difficult.

This was the first time Affleck was seen in public since Lopez’s bold photoshoot and her comments about their split.

The star was spotted wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans as he walked with his production crew, searching for a location for his new project.

When questioned about her separation from the filmmaker, the singer stated it was “f***ing hard.”

Jennifer was mindful not to mention her ex-husband’s name when she shared with Nikki Glaser how her life had blown up in her face this year.

The Atlas star said she needed to be alone after her split from Ben.

“You have to be complete if you want something that’s more complete,” the Ain’t Your Mama singer told Nikki.

She also shared that she does not need to depend on another person to be happy and needs to find happiness within herself.

Married for two years, Ben and Jennifer decided to split back in April.

On August 20, which also happened to be their wedding anniversary, Lopez officially filed for divorce.

‘Rust’ screening raises eyebrows among cinematographers and public

Rust, the film that led to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, is set to premiere at Poland’s EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Cinematography Film Festival next month.

In October 2021, Hutchins was killed by a live round from a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin during a rehearsal, injuring director Joel Souza as well in the process.

The festival announced on Instagram that the world premiere is intended to “honour her [late cinematographer’s] memory and remind the world of her legacy.”

While no specific date has been disclosed, The Mirror US suggested the event will take place between November 16 and November 23.

However, the planned premiere has sparked controversy among Hutchins’ peers and the public.

Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rachel Morrison expressed discontent, “I’m all for memorialising Halyna and her beautiful work, but not by screening and promoting the film that killed her.”

Suzie Lavelle, known for her work on Hulu’s Normal People, echoed these concerns, urging, “Promoting a film that was shot with unsafe practices—leading to the death of its cinematographer—should be reconsidered.”

Public reactions have mirrored these sentiments, with many criticising the festival’s decision.

“The one festival in the entire world dedicated to the art of cinematography pulling this stunt is so tone-deaf. Honour the cinematographer, not the film that killed her and should never have been completed,” one commenter noted.

“To promote and celebrate a film that took the life of its cinematographer is unthinkable,” another user remarked.

Despite the backlash, the Rust premiere is still on the horizon.
